Electronic Document Interchange (EDI)
EDI is a series of conventions that allow direct communication between the computer systems of two trading partners. This speeds up processing by avoiding unnecessary emailing, faxing and retyping of information.
A range of documents can be exchanged - purchase orders, purchase order acknowledgements and invoices are the most common.
